Open chess tournament entitled "Mediterranean
2017" is organized to support the candidature of the City of
Rijeka for the organization of 2017 Mediterranean games.
The third «Mediterranean 2017» will be held in 2009.
It is the organiser's intent to have the tournament organised
each year.
Awards fund: about 16 000 €.
1st award – 3000 €
2nd award – 2000 €
3rd award – 1400 €
Awards will be paid out in net amounts in Croatian kunas on the Croatian players’ accounts. Foreign players will be given awards in cash payments.
